Aladdin leans in close to Jasmine, his eyes narrowing. “You have something in your hair, you know.” Jasmine instinctively reaches for her hair. “I do? What is it?” Aladdin reaches out and grabs a coin from her hair, though in reality, it hadn’t been there to begin with. He grins and flips the coin into the air, catching it and showing it to her.

“I thought you didn’t have any money?” Jasmine smiles, surprise shining in her eyes. “That’s a wonderful trick! How did you do it?” Aladdin flips the coin again, but this time Abu catches it, chattering excitedly as he stares at it greedily. “Misdirection. It’s a pretty simple trick to learn. Especially when you rely on it to get by here.”

“Could you teach me?” Jasmine asks, smiling. Aladdin rubs the back of his neck, smiling awkwardly. “Sure… ….Uh….”
“Jasmine”
“Aladdin”
The two shake hands. “Sure, Jasmine. I can teach you. Just watch me.” He takes the coin back from Abu, who chatters angrily and shakes his fist at him, then turns to Jasmine. He shows her the coin trick slowly a few times, explaining how it works, before handing her the coin.

“Now remember, keep the coin hidden, and it’s all in the-“ Jasmine copies the same motion that Aladdin had shown her, but just as skillfully. She smiles. “…Heh. Wrist,” Aladdin finishes. “You’re right. You are a fast learner.” Abu jumps onto Aladdin’s shoulder and swipes the coin out of Jasmine’s hand, chattering angrily. “Abu, what’s that for?!” Aladdin scolds him, but Jasmine laughs. “He can have it. Thank you for teaching me, Aladdin.” Aladdin turns his attention back to Jasmine. “You’re welcome, Jasmine.”

Aladdin stands and stretches. “Well, I think everything’s calmer down there. Would you like to me to give you a proper tour?” Jasmine stands as well. “I suppose…but I’ll have to head home soon…even if I don’t want to go back…” Aladdin frowns. “Will I see you again?”

“Of course you will! Agrabah can’t be seen in an entire day!” Jasmine smiles, Aladdin smiling as well. “Come on. Follow me!” He leads Jasmine back down into the market, where they stroll along, Aladdin showing Jasmine around. She didn’t know that Agrabah was so complicated! So many houses and shops and roads and alleyways…it was enough to make one’s head spin, but Aladdin seemed to have everything memorized!

As they see the sights and Aladdin shows Jasmine around, the two talk. They talk about a great many things, and quickly are laughing and joking about nothing at all, really. Jasmine enjoys Aladdin’s company, and he enjoys hers. Aladdin is glad to have someone who seems to understand where he is coming from - Jasmine had admitted to feeling trapped, just as he had!

Jasmine is elated. Finally, a friend! She had another friend alongside Rajah! They walk to the palace gates, where she stops. Aladdin, confused, turns around. “What’s the matter, Jasmine?” She looks to the ground. “…I know my way home from here. You don’t need to lead me anywhere now.” Aladdin frowns. “Oh…I see…”

It is silent for a while before Aladdin perks up. “Well, since I’ll see you again, where should we meet next and when?” Jasmine looks up, also smiling. “You can meet me here tomorrow and show me more of Agrabah.” Abu opens his mouth to object, but Aladdin covers it with a hand. “It’s a deal!” Abu bites Aladdin’s hand and chatters angrily, pointing to Jasmine, as Aladdin shakes his bitten hand. “OW! Abu, what’s gotten into you?!” Jasmine chuckles. “Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow, then.” Aladdin turns and starts to walk away, turning back around to wave. “Goodbye, Jasmine!”

“Goodbye, Aladdin!” Jasmine smiles and waves back as Aladdin turns and continues to walk away. He mutters to Abu, “What was that for?! Not cool, Abu. Not cool! And that hurt!” The two bicker with each other, Jasmine chuckling at the sight. Once they are far enough away and the coast is clear, Jasmine manages to find a way back over the palace gates, where she finds Rajah waiting for her.

Rajah perks up, nuzzling her and purring. Jasmine laughs. “Oh, Rajah! I had the most wonderful time! Did you miss me?” Rajah nods, nuzzling her again. Jasmine walks into her room with Rajah, excitedly telling him all that had happened. She had made a new friend. His name was Aladdin. He had given her a tour of Agrabah. And she would continue to sneak out and see him for more tours and the like. Although she has only just met him, she knows that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Little does she know, Aladdin feels the same.
Commission for MegaMovieMonday

This is an AU where Aladdin and Jasmine don’t fall in love, and instead, they become friends (after all, not EVERY story has to have romance, right?). The story starts in Aladdin’s house. In the movie, the two are about to kiss when they are interrupted by the guards. In this AU, however, things take a different course…!

I loved writing this and loved the concept behind this! I hope you enjoy it, MegaMovieMonday! :D
